E Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Just bought my first rig. Its an 86 Skeeter and to be honest I dont know much about bass boats. Do you have to have this or is there an overflow? thanks in advance Quote
G3 Fan Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Welcome to the site, I am not sure which boat you have but if you are asking if the boat has a bilge pump on it there should be a switch on the dash and the pump will be located in the stern close to the transom. You should be able to access it from your battery compartment. It will be sitting low to the floor and have a hose running from it going through the hull. The boat should also be equipped with a drain plug. Which again would be through the transom or just under the transom on the bottom of the hull. I wasn't too sure what you question was so I hope this helped somewhat. Quote
tntitans21399 Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 If your boat doesn't have a bilge pump or a working one, you should invest in one. They can be about $10-$20. It is a very good cheap insurance to have when you out on the lake or keep your boat in the water for a long time. My boat doesn't leak, but a lot of boat leak a little, but my boat does get water if I'm going slow and a big wave comes. I think I got my bilge pump and auto switch for $20 for both. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 6, 2008 Super User Posted March 6, 2008 WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes you should have one. Quote
jemackinnon83 Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Welcome... I'd say you need a bilge pump. I've got one in my jon boat. It's a 20 ounce plastic cup:) Quote
Super User cart7t Posted March 7, 2008 Super User Posted March 7, 2008 I don't believe a bilge pump is mandatory. Yes, there is an over flow. When the bilge fills with enough water, the boat will sink low enough that water will "over flow" the transom and fill the boat up the rest of the way. Quote

Super User Raul Posted March 7, 2008 Super User Posted March 7, 2008 Welcome... I'd say you need a bilge pump. I've got one in my jon boat. It's a 20 ounce plastic cup:) Why not invest in a few bucks installing a small one you can connect directly to your TM battery to power it up ? :-? No need to scoop out. Quote
