JWall14 Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 My two peice rod is stuck and I have a road trip coming up. Any ideas? I’ve tried ice, pulling, two pepole pulling. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted June 30, 2018 Super User Posted June 30, 2018 Maybe silicone spray or WD-40 would loosen it. 1 Quote

Then rub a birthday candle on it to keep from happening again. 2 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 30, 2018 Super User Posted June 30, 2018 Ice makes it tighter! Low heat with a hair drier may help, it will come apart but you may not like the results. Tom 1 Quote
Happybeerbuzz Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Twisting back and forth as you pull works better than just pulling. 2 Quote
frogflogger Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 We always put it behind us in a crouch - kept the pull straighter but not as easy as the spreading your legs thing - and yes a gentle twist - very gentle - can help. 1 Quote
JWall14 Posted June 30, 2018 Author Posted June 30, 2018 Just tried everything here. Still stuck. ? I might just give up... Quote
Bass Turd Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Try a true penetrating oil and let it sit as long as you can. 2 Quote

Super User Dwight Hottle Posted June 30, 2018 Super User Posted June 30, 2018 Place the rod behind your knees in a crouched position. Grab the rod with both hands placed just outside your knee. Twist & pull spreading your knee outward at the same time with your hands against the outside of the knee. It has always worked for me. 1 Quote

Terry_ Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 I have got them apart in the past with 2 pairs of pliers. I used several wraps of electrical tape on both sections to protect the blank. Then used the pliers to gently twist the 2 sections in opposite directions. Once the seal they have formed is broken, they should work loose easy enough. It is a risky technique, best used only as a last resort, but it has worked for me. 1 Quote
Super User MickD Posted June 30, 2018 Super User Posted June 30, 2018 For the record, ice does not make them stick tighter. Ice helps. As counter-intuitive as it seems, ice shrinks the material making the ID of the female section bigger and the OD of the male section smaller. Might not work every time, but it is theoretically the right solution. 2 Quote
Super User Raul Posted July 1, 2018 Super User Posted July 1, 2018 Well, I guess it no longer a 2 piece rod..... Quote
jbmaine Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Put your most expensive lure on and cast as hard as you can. Watch your lure and front half of your rod go sailing off into the sun set. Seriously, I would try penetrating oil, then ice, then heat only on the O.D. side. Quote
