Hooks, Hooks, and more Hooks?

I'm looking to place a big order with Jann's soon.  But I'm not sure what brand hooks to go with.

Most of these hooks will be used for making inline spinners, spoons, updating some crankbaits.

 

Based on what Jann's has what would you go with?

 

Treble Hooks:
Daiichi
Eagle Claw
Gamakatsu
Mustad
Trokar
VMC
Owner

 

Treble Replacement Hooks:
VMC or Owner

 

Circle Hooks, Spinnerbait Hooks, etc.   Which brands should I go with?

I like Owner ST-36 and VMC Vanadium Inlines for most treble hook baits.  Anything else will be an Owner Cutting Point.

I use Eagle Claw for about everything anymore but if I want a premium hook I'm going with Owner. I know a lot of guys love those Trokars but that cutting point is terrible imo. Owner did (and maybe still does), make a cutting point hook that would tear up your bait and cut a huge hole in the fish's mouth and make it much easier for the fish to throw the hook. Looked great on paper, did not perform well in the field.

I love Gamakatsu hooks. They cost more, but are super sharp, and have a nice flex that I like.I use a 2-3/0 wide gap hook for all my soft plastics fishing. I use Eagle claws as a second choice in the same hook.

I fish gamakatsu most but like owner a lot also.  Those death trap trebles are money on a jerkbait.

Owner and Gammy takes up most of the space in my hook planos 

All my replacement trebles are owner

So for Treble Hooks I'd should stick with:  Gamakatsu, VMC, Owner

 

Would the same brands be the choices for Circle Hooks, Spinnerbait Hooks, jigs hooks, etc?

 

Are there any particular brand models to go with or avoid?

I try to stay away from Matzuo hooks, all the ones you listed will work fine though.

Personal preference....Try a few and see.

 

I like mustad.  Lots of options and dont bend or lose their point easily.  They also have grip pins which can be very useful keeping your plastics in place.

Just one more thought concerning hook sizes.

What hook sizes should I focus on?   Which hook size(s) would catch the most variety of fish?

Crappie, Bass, Trout, Perch, Walleye, etc.

I think Gammy makes the sharpest hooks.

For my inline spinners I use nothing but, eagle claws.  Never had a problem as far as bass and trout are concerned (plus made in America).  I like eagle claw trebles,

 

the worm hooks are another story. The worm hooks are the only hook I’ve ever used that rusts after one time ( not talking Trokar )

I use size 4 trebles with # 4 blades and #6 trebles with #2 blades.  I have landed big pike and bass with no problems on #4’s. I also pinch the barb down on them.
