Fluctuating water level Spawn

So the water temp, time of year, moon phase are all in align. The lake im fishing this weekend has been up & down for the last couple months. I mean Way up & down- 33' high to 10' then back up to 17'. Now it is on a steady fall at a foot & a half a day closer to normal level. Anybody have a clue what these poor bass will be doing- most particular concerning their procreation?... Thanks in advance!

You will be surprised how little effect it'll have.

 

While Toledo Bend doesn't fluctuate that high, right at the beginning of pre-spawn the lake came up 2' overnight.

 

High water levels, cold rains, dropping water temperatures, very muddy waters, & extremely high winds. Every negative condition imaginable occurred during pre-spawn through spawn had everyone sure it would at least slow things down.

 

It didn't!

 

In fact the fishing got better!

 

Most anglers went looking for clear water but as it turned out the better fishing was in the muddiest water.

As you know, water temperature is the controlling factor for the spawn.

 

No idea where you are or your bass fishing experience so we can give you limited input.

 

If you have any dogwood trees where you live keep an eye on them. When they bloom the bass are on their beds.

 

And one more point: Not all bass go to spawn at the same time. The spawn in your area can last up to a month after it begins.

 

So if everything is in alignment as you say then all you have to do is look in the coves and protected areas for the beds.

Not to de-rail - but it's funny that somehow I had NEVER heard the dogwood timer for spawning until I was here.  And I had never made that connection of my own accord.  Now, especially this year, I am seeing it all over lol.  Just one of those odd tips that make life a little easier and seems to be pretty spot on.
