So I want to start throwing a glide more. I have 1 trout pattern glide but, of course, I need a couple few more. @Bluebasser86 mentioned he liked the Savage Gear Shine Glide and I was wondering what most people throw between the 5.25" and the 7.25" ?

And colors? I'm in Maine and we don't have shad up here so I was looking at the Hitch.

Thoughts?

great baits nice wide action, i throw them for pike and bass. match the herring and golden shiner
i feel like the smaller one will get bit more in the colder water if your just looking blow the dust off your gear.
i dont toss them a lot  i have other confidence baits.  i dont throw glides alot for bass.  the 7inch golden shiner got chewed by pike.

The 7" in bone is what you want

I have the 5.25" in Threadfin Shad, let's face it...if sexy shad style baits get bit up here in New England that Threadfin should. It's a beautiful bait with lot's of blue and silver and a thin stripe of chartreuse down the side. I'm thinking if i get another one I would go with either Bluegill or Golden Shiner. I'm sure th 7" bait works great too but I just don't have the equipment to throw a bait that heavy.

Thanks for the info so far! What temps do you find these baits most effective?

I have been told that they can be effective all season long but are most effective in the Spring and Fall.

Ive given up throwing my Shine Glide due to it helicoptering too much on casts.

is there a way to prevent that from happening?

I find a sidearm cast and keeping it low to the water seems to reduce the helicoptering. You can't really try to launch it, just make a smooth, controlled cast and it does pretty well. It's just the way the bait is balanced, no way to completely eliminate it. It's such and effective bait that I don't mind a minor issue like that though.

Cut off was about 48 degrees for me when I stopped getting bit on it. Everything above that was fine though.

The 5" Shine Glide is the best gliding small bait I've fished, but do yourself a favor and get the 7". Once you're catching 1 and 2 pounders on it, it becomes obvious that it's not that big of a bait to the fish.
