Lenny Kay Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 Hello everyone I have a DEPS 250 GlideBait and was noticing that the stock hooks are week and are getting bent inwards quite often. I want to find a treble hook that is stronger and stiffer. Also I've been trying to find out is what size treble is on this glide-bait so that I can purchase the proper size. Much appreciated to all those that give me feedback. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted February 11, 2018 Super User Posted February 11, 2018 2/0 36 front and 1/0 36 out back for me. 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 11, 2018 Global Moderator Posted February 11, 2018 I like the Decoy Quattro hooks on my big swimbaits. They even look at the bait funny they'll be stuck. 1 Quote
Super User Angry John Posted February 12, 2018 Super User Posted February 12, 2018 I am in love with the owner st 41. It's 2x stong and with the cutting points the even look at the hook and there stuck. The owner hook covers also work well when storing and transporting the bait. 1 Quote
FCPhil Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 x2 on the owner St-41. They are scary sharp. I forgot to set the drag on a crankbait once that had st-41s, the drag was barely engaged at all but still was able to set the hook and landed the fish, the bass just could not shake it. Quote
Super User WRB Posted February 12, 2018 Super User Posted February 12, 2018 Whatever you do don't bend the hook outward, it will weaken them. There are 2 basic treble hooks designs, sproat bend and round bend. Sproat bend look like it's bend slightly inward and has a longer hook shank. Round bends are just that with hook points straight up, larger gap and shorter shanks. Most anglers use Gamakatsu size 1/0 trebles and add a extra split ring on the front hook. The Gammy's are a light wire hook, weight is important. I use Owner STX-58 size 2/0 front and 1/0 rear with standard single split rings that come with the Deps 250. The Owner Zo-wire is light weight, sticky sharp, very strong and Sproat hook bend. Tom Quote
