Hi everyone I am looking at upgrading all of tackle storage boxes and would like to get the Flambeau boxes with the Zerust. I have not been able o decided between the waterproof ones or the regular Tuff Tainers. Does waterproof do more to prevent rust and is it worth the extra price?

Thanks for all of the replies

I do not use the watertight containers. For one, the ones

I've messed with have been a pain in the butt to open, but

that helps with the seals to keep out water.

Not found the need for watertight boxes at this stage of the

game. Now that I'm doing saltwater fishing, too, I have

thought about it, but not made any moves to upgrade.

Bottom line, I've not had enough stuff rust out to make it

a big deal to me. I have, for some boxes, kept a silica gel

pack in 'em. That works great, too. The ones you get in shoe

boxes...

One of the problems with the waterproof boxes is that once water gets in them, it stays there as long as the box is closed. I have several dozen Plano utility boxes that I've been using for years and have never had an issue because they are not water tight. If I am out in damp weather and some rain happens to get in a box, I bring it inside, leave it open and It will dry out. All my tackle stays indoors except for the boxes I take with me while fishing. Aside from rain and maybe a bit of splashing that may happen in the boat. Keeping water out of the boxes is seldom an issue.

I put silica packs from pharmacies in my boxes.  Not a lot of rust issues.
