Steveo-1969 Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 I'm wondering if anyone here subscribes to MOTV (My Outdoor TV) and what they think? I downgraded my DirecTV package a couple months ago and lost a bunch of channels that I recorded fishing shows from and MOTV looks like a great way to get them back and then some. Plus my subscription to In-Fisherman magazine runs out in October and I could continue getting the magazine as part of my MOTV subscription. Looking at the FAQ section on their website I'm a little confused on how easy/difficult it would be to cast what I'm watching from my Android phone to my Smart TV. Is this easy? Also the feedback on the Android app in the Google Play Store has lots of feedback saying the app doesn't work very well and is glitchy. Any info from MOTV subscribers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted July 25, 2017 Super User Posted July 25, 2017 Interesting. Difficult for me to tell whether I'll find $10/mo worth of content worth watching. Seems a little pricey; especially if service is spotty. I'd like to think there's an opportunity out there...what with WFN disappearing from cable providers and little in the way of fishing TV shows nowadays. I know there's a lot of youtube stuff, but frankly, I find it difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff....not to mention that finding and watching internet content on the big screen is usually a PITA. I'd also be interested to find out if anyone has found this to be a good service. Quote
Megastink Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 I do. I watch MLF, UMF, Zona, Mercer, and Horton. I don't watch the hunting, shooting, or cooking shows. I use my laptop as well as my phone. I can download episodes to my device and watch them offline such as on a plane. I think it's worth it. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 I subscribe and quite like it, anyone know when the current MLF stuff is going to be on there? Quote

I would also only watch fishing shows (I don't hunt) and would watch all shows you mentioned and then some. Do you watch from their website on your phone or do you use their Android app? Do you cast the shows onto a television when you watch them? Just now, Tim Kelly said: I subscribe and quite like it, anyone know when the current MLF stuff is going to be on there? Thanks Tim. Do you cast to a TV from a smart phone? Do you use the Android app or the website? Someone in another thread mentioned the current MLF Championship being televised on CBS here in the States would be available on MOTV this fall. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 I watch on the computer straight from the website. Quote

I don't own a computer and would have to watch from an Android smart phone. I'm sure I would get used to watching them on a 5" screen but would rather cast it to my TV. I think this will be possible, but hoping a member here will be able to verify it is possible from an Android phone. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Can't help you, but I would absolutely recommend you get a Chromebook of some sort. They're cheap and do 99% of what I do on my proper computer, plus they have a screen big enough to watch stuff on. Watching on a phone would be irritating, as is doing most things on the internet on a phone. 1 Quote

Agree that doing internet related things on a phone is a pain but I really don't have a use for a computer at home (or I'd already have one). Hoping that I can cast MOTV to my television, that would be ideal for me. 1 Quote

Thank you Turtle135. My phone and TV call this "Screen Mirroring" and this definitely works for me. I didn't realize "Casting" was the same thing. OK so it looks like I will be able to watch MOTV videos on my TV. Any other MOTV subscribers have any feedback good or bad? Quote
SuperCorona Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Not MOTV, but I watch a lot of good shows on Waypoint TV via my Roku device. The only cost was for the Roku stick...about $49. 1 Quote

FishinNotCatchin Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 I too am considering getting this; Can you stream this on 2 TV's at the same time? Quote
HenryPF Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 I have it - if you want MLF - they have it all. During MLF tourneys, they do a live cast also. I never though watching a pro fish would be so boring! Imagine watching a guy fish for 6+ hours, cast after cast. But, as for shows, you can't beat MOTV. My cable subscriber wants $10 a month just to get the outdoor channels and with MOTV I can watch it whenever I want including all the previous seasons and shows unavailable on cable TV channels. You can also install on in firesticks and whatnot. Worth it if you watch a lot of fishing shows, much less all the other hunting, cooking etc. shows. Quote

If you had a Firestick you could get it on your TV by downloading the app to your Firestick. 1 Quote

When I first subscribed to MOTV I would watch it with the Android app on my phone and cast/mirror it to my TV and that worked ok. Now I have an Amazon Firestick and it works much better. 1 Quote
Hawkeye21 Posted November 7, 2019 Posted November 7, 2019 Buy a Firestick for all of your TVs when they go on sale on Amazon. Quote
