WTnPuddleJumper Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 I know they sponsor this site but I can't resist. I have been chunking Bandit crankbaits since they were made at Sardis Lake, MS. Back then they were around $3 a lure. I go to the Pyramid BPS yesterday and they have the same Bandit lure, only this one is probably imported, and half the quality of the original, for $7.99! $7.99!!!! Thank You BPS for price gouging the folks that put you where you are today by purchasing your products.
Super User J Francho Posted June 16, 2017 Super User Posted June 16, 2017 Try car shopping.... Also, most places have them at $6.49.
Super User fishballer06 Posted June 16, 2017 Super User Posted June 16, 2017 You can't build a pyramid unless your customers will pay for it! 3
Super User WRB Posted June 16, 2017 Super User Posted June 16, 2017 Cost of living impacts everything, what was the price of a gallon of gasoline when Bandit lures were $3 ea in MS? You could have saved $1.50 by shopping the lures at several tackle stores and might find Bandits on a close out sale price .99 cents. I don't see BPS listed as a site sponsor. Tom 5
Super User Darren. Posted June 16, 2017 Super User Posted June 16, 2017 BPS charges top of the top of retail prices for too much stuff. Probably to push consumers to their in-house brand, which, for rods, soft plastics, is actually pretty good quality! 1
Super User MIbassyaker Posted June 16, 2017 Super User Posted June 16, 2017 SFT has bandits in stock and they're running 15% off through the weekend: http://sfttackle.com/catalogsearch/advanced/result/?name=bandit 1
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 16, 2017 Super User Posted June 16, 2017 As a former employee I am not going to bad mouth them. The Fishing Department is a VERY small part of the business today. The Pyramid here in Memphis is simply a gigantic shopping center that happens to sell fishing lures. The mark up on tackle, especially in-house brands, is comparable to jewelry, believe it or not. The real money is in accessories, especially novelty items and clothing. Every single person that visits the Pyramid buys a little something with the name on it.
CTBassin860 Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Its called inflation buddy.Basic economics.Im sorry a business can't give you for the same price they could 15 years ago.If the 4 bucks is breaking your bank i'd try something else. Not sure why you felt the need to openly brand bash over minimal cost issues. 1
Lures'n'Liberty Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 I so want to go on a political rant right now about import tariffs and Austrian Economics but it's against site rules . 2
jr231 Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 If you shop around most bandit cranks can still be had for 5 bucks ! I never go to BPS or Cabela's expecting a deal... Although I did get a Lew's super duty at Cabela's the other day for 100 bones. 1
Super User MassYak85 Posted June 16, 2017 Super User Posted June 16, 2017 BPS definitely is on the upper end of retail for many products. I rarely buy stuff from them unless it's on sale or I need something quickly and am near the store.
Super User NHBull Posted June 16, 2017 Super User Posted June 16, 2017 I could see the complaint if you were making no the same wages you were 15 yrs ago..... And there are other places with lower prices than BPS .....just saying 3
tander Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 I have been using Bandits since they came out, still my #1 crankbait. I wait until they are on sale and buy a bunch of them. I will use them at some point.
Super User Fishes in trees Posted June 17, 2017 Super User Posted June 17, 2017 I won't bad mouth Johnny Morris. Johnny Morris loves me. He loves me so much he sends me a new catalog every few weeks, just so I can stay informed about what kind of gear is available. His catalogs are an important part of my daily hygiene rituals, they occupy a prominent portion of my literature rack. I like to go to his churches - I mean stores. 7

Where would we be if didn't read about the latest developments in hollow body frogs every morning? 1

Leftymuk Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 Don't get me started on hollow bodies............my daughter takes the hooks out and uses them as decoration 1

Jaderose Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 I recently went to the Springfield Flagship store with some non fishing people. They loved it. I HATED it. They went on and on about how that must have been great for me and all. It wasn't. It is the cable television of fishing. 5 million things and not a thing I wanted or needed.

I have the opposite problem, 5 million things and most of them I want. How to choose just a few???
JigMaster4 Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 I agree about BPS being pretty high priced on most everything, but Cabelas isn't as bad. Their soft plastics are decent, and the bargain cave can have decent deals. Also my last trip I picked up some eco pro tungsten swing shads for $2.50, and some Rapala cranks and storm arashi squarebills for $3. 1
Super User Munkin Posted June 18, 2017 Super User Posted June 18, 2017 I am not even sure what Bandits cost anymore? Between the number of baits I get back with a lure retriever and the ones I pick up for $1 each at the Flea Market I am set. Allen
