Anyone have one of these?

Is it decent and sturdy(rugged) ???

Broke a support on my old as dirt trailer this weekend. Wondering if I should go ahead and get this one instead of fixing, breaking, fixing to the point of paying more than this little trailer costs.

Just looking for feedback on this.

I have 14'8" aluminum v-hull btw.

Thanks

I've purchased some small items from Northern Tool (come-alongs, winches, etc.) and been very satisfied. My buddy bought a log splitter from them, and it seems rugged and well-constructed. He also bought one of those heavy duty nylon shelters, but I think they just sell them drop shipped from Cover-It. Hope this helps.

I have one that I bought from harbor freight. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=5002

It is very well made. It is all bolt together. It is mostly 2"X4" square tubing. It took about 4~5 hours to assemble by myself. The directions are very straight forward. The hardest part was fishing the wires throught the frame and greasing the bearings. There is room for the bigger 8" tires under the fenders. I can take pictures of mine and post if you would like. It came UPS in Three boxes. Oh and shipping was only $9.00

Thats just like the one I have linked in my first post I believe. Is it really durable, bounce alot on road?

I just wanna make sure it is good before I decide to trash mine or sell it.

Does it come with straps or some kind of attachment for the rear of the boat?

I feel the trailer is adequate for the boat I am towing with it, a 12' V bottom. Remember the trailer is only rated for 600#.  It comes with just the trailer. Just as you see in the picture. On the Harbor Freight site you can download the manual.

http://www.harborfreight.com/manuals/5000-5999/5002.PDF

Seeing the manual before hand was nice and helped me make my decision. I think the price is a deal considering a new trailer from my local trailer place was $500.00.

The trailer does bounce when empty. Then again so does the one for my 16' when it is empty. I do not think you will be disappointed if you stay within it limits. Also, remember to grease the bearings.

If it helps I purchased this trailer from Harbor Freight many many years ago and it has made several trips to canada, the jersey shore and the pocono's and it has held up very well. I live 30 miles west of Philly, PA as the crow flies.  The frame has held up well with minimal rust.

Thanks Paul for the detailed photos. It looks like it will handle the job great. What size boat is that? Just for sizing matters, I have  a 14'8"  boat. Think it will hang off the back a little. Also did you get bigger tires or is that the ones it came with.

Thanks...

The boat claims to be 12'. So the capacity plate says. I never actually measured it.  Those are the tires and wheels that came with it. 4.80X8.

1- the arm that the wench is on can be moved forward a bit to accomodate a 14'

2- If yours is usable for now (AFTER WELDING) you may want to start shopping around for a used trailer.  I got one 2yrs ago for my 16' whaler.  Was the next size up from what you are looking at and got it for $125.  Lots of deals around here, hopefully there are where you are also.

10-4 on what LBH said! ...i could never see putting that kind of money on a trailer! ...if you'll pick up a copy of auto-trader (or, something similar in your area), they'll have tons of used boats & trailers for sale.

Hate to bring this one to the top, but it certainly hit the spot for me.

I've got a 12' flatbottom Fisher Marine aluminum, stupidly sold the trailer about 15 years ago.  Been looking and looking for a used trailer but not finding much of anything worth buying.

One question to the fellow who posted the photos.  Does the spare carrier on the Blazer swing out all the way with the trailer hitched up?  I've got a Blazer with the spare carrier and I'm worried about clearance.

Very tempted to drive to Northern tomorrow and pick one of these things up.  I had pretty much given up and was getting ready to build my own.  But this trailer looks pretty nice.  Will need some bigger tires, but it will do for now.  Might even be able to modify it a bit to carry my 17' canoe.

Yes, the tire does clear the winch stand. The winch stand is moveable and can be moved from the coupler to the center of the trailer..

Hey guys, I plan on ordering this trailer.  Does it come with the winch part that pulls the boat up?? I dont see it in the photos.  Do I have to purchase this separate.  Im hoping it will fit a 14ft aluminum.  Thanks

That trailer looks a little small for a 14 footer. 12 footer ok, 14 footer and gear on long tips. Not my boat.

remember on weight . its the wieght of the boat, motor and gear

My 14 footer  sits on a trailer that can hold 1200 lbs and runs on 13 inch wheels

Go around and check local boat shops. they have used trailers. I had to buy a new trailer last yera. Mine rusted out. Needed one for a 17 1/2 deep V. was looking at buying a new one, cheepest I found was about $1400 had to put it together myself and it was just bearly met my weight load. Well I found a local boat dealer that had a few trailer . new old stock. they were 2002 trailers, never titaled and never had boats on them. picked on up that was really nice and can hold way more weight that my boat. picked it up for $1000. Look around you might find something nicer.

I do not like trailers with 8 tires period, go with at least 12 tires

The winch and jack DID NOT come with the trailer. I had "extras" that I used on the trailer. You can buy them from harbor or northern when you order the trailer.
