This morning I went to a local pond for a few frog bites and had a bit of a mishap. I'm going to email Lews and see if they'll do anything for me, this was definitely a first! (Grass was soaking wet, rained all night into the morning, so the fish should be fine!)

Nice bass (head) ~

So did you snap that reel off on a hook set ?

And if so - the rest of that fight must have been pretty 'interesting' -

Several years ago - and we do not need to say exactly how many - I had a casting rod reel seat blow up on a hookset -

Didn't end well, broke the line & lost the bass . . . .

Glad to see you faired better

Good Luck with your warranty claim.

I wish there was a video of the ensuing fish landing.  We would probably have to edit the audio though...

Landed a six foot white sturgeon that same way years ago. It turned into a three man circus trying to get it to the bank. We had a blast though and a good celebration after. Wish smart phones existed back then. Would have been a YouTube hit.

Yes the reel foot broke on the hook set. I managed to keep my hands on the reel and didn't have an issue bringing the fish through the pads, my bear paw hands that make fish look small in pictures do allow me to hold a baitcaster pretty well.
