CTBassin860 Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Anyone else notice how expensive soft plastics are on Amazon?? 11.00 for a 5 pack of cane toads, hooks the same thing. 9.00 a bag of watermelon/red yum dingers.Thought that was pretty crazy. 2 Quote
Super User NHBull Posted May 8, 2017 Super User Posted May 8, 2017 Yup, but the reverse is also true for many hard baits.....make little sense to me. Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted May 8, 2017 Super User Posted May 8, 2017 I've noticed the same thing and it really makes me wonder. I order A LOT of stuff on Amazon, but soft plastics are not one of them. Quote
Hog Basser Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Yeah, it's a bunch of 3rd party sellers hoping someone with little experience in buying fishing gear will take it at that price. I'm a prime member, but buy very little of my fishing gear off Amazon. Quote

sully420 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Fishing rods are good on amazon if you have prime i saved 30 bucks on a DUCKETT Ghost. But baits not so much Quote
Super User Darren. Posted May 9, 2017 Super User Posted May 9, 2017 I don't do much, if any, fishing purchases on Amazon. Just not worth the effort even tho I have Prime. Should clarify re: effort. Effort on Amazon Prime is as simple as clicking buy. Issue I have is with what I want that is available. I can usually find better deals on ebay or ... gasp ... Bass Pro. 2 Quote

Bass Pro is ok to order from if you dont mind waiting 3 weeks for them to ship a bag of worms to the store for pickup Quote

But when I've ordered rods/reels and leave them in the cart, by the next day or two I have a "dude, don't leave a good thing behind" discount that makes it worth my while. usually...not for small stuff, though. Ive been applying there for part time after my real job.40% on BPS brand is nothing to sneeze at.I want that discount too. @Darren. I hit the BPS in Tampa this weekend too! They had a Metanium MGL that some guy ordered and never picked up.Needless to say i played with it for like 15 minutes talking myself out of spending 400 bucks. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted May 9, 2017 Super User Posted May 9, 2017 I have bought 100 packs of manns Jelly worms for 6 dollars . 1 Quote
lonnie g Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 doesn't work for me either,. hopefully there is an amazon exec. reading this or sellers taking notice. just saying if my job was in sales or to help create sales "pretty simple" look at the numbers of just our members. wow what a target to shoot for!. does the words common sense exist any more? Pro Logcatcher Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 I ordered some black trick worms for 2.50. I didn't realize they made the shipping 10.00... Quote

Hawkeye21 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 When it comes to buying lures it's hard to beat Tackle Warehouse. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted May 9, 2017 Super User Posted May 9, 2017 Lures are way overpriced. Ive bought tatula rod for $75 though and have bought discounted reels. Quote
blckshirt98 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Amazon is rough but once in a blue moon you find an amazing deal. They once has Curado reels for like $120 or so, and another seller had Okuma Cedros Low Profile Baitcasting reels for like $80. But for the most part, yeah Amazon is a pretty horrible place to buy tackle. 1 Quote
Preytorien Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Fishing line is usually a good deal, and most of the major brands are Prime eligible (or at least my favorite brands have been) Lure though, that's a different story. Tackle Warehouse seems to take my money then. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted May 10, 2017 Super User Posted May 10, 2017 I ordered some plastic/lures from Amazon before. I always compare price at least to bass pro cabela's and tackle warehouse. Mostly the one I found a reasonable price compare to other is add-on stuffs where you have to add up to 25 prime for free shipping. If I only need a few, I'll check on Amazon first becuz I dont have to pay shipping and it get here pretty fast. Quote
wisconsin heat Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 yeah but you can find good deals on bobber stops for sinker pegs.Like 600 for 4 bucks lol. 2 Quote
