Some tissues Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 I had a friend ask me if a crooked guide makes any difference but I'm not really sure anyone have a opinion Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 18, 2017 Super User Posted February 18, 2017 Well, it would drive me crazy, but if it is not broken and is not so awkward that it scraps your line, it's probably okay. Just be sure your friend checks his line CAREFULLY. Quote

But yeah same it would probably be irritating to know it is bent Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted February 18, 2017 Super User Posted February 18, 2017 Go find a local rod repair guy and have it redone. If the guide is fine but just out of alignment you are probably talking $5 or $10 to fix it. I would have it fixed. If the guide is bent or defective I would definitely fixed. I think the last time I had a guide replaced it was $10 or $15 total. An off centered guide won't ruin anything, but it would bother me too much to leave it. That is a good rod I would get er done! 1 Quote

Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Functionally it will be fine. If it drives you to distraction it's an easy fix for a local builder. 1 Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted February 19, 2017 Super User Posted February 19, 2017 A crooked guide will want you to pay up front and won't show up. 2 Quote
RB 77 Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Like DVT said, it will work just fine. You would be surprised at some of the factory builds you run across sometimes. I had a $200+ rod from one of the big boys the looked like it was acid wrapped. The rod worked just fine, but I could never get used to it and eventually got rid of it. Looked like it was wrapped on a Friday afternoon at 4:45 pm. When I build my own, I always get a second set of eyes on just in case I miss something... Quote

Super User fishnkamp Posted February 20, 2017 Super User Posted February 20, 2017 Sorry I got busy i asked your state only so I could see what local tackle shops you may have around you. I usually check the dealer listings of Powell, Irod, DObyns and a few more. Boy i hope you have a good local shop. I could only find a Field and Stream in Champaign IL. Quote
