I do. 30 yards of mono and then a 100 yard braid leader connected with alberto knotB)

Seems to me the majority here use braid. I despise the stuff, and refuse to use it. Blasphemy? If you say so.

Alao, Ive never caught a Bass over 10" long with a trap, or any other lipless bait. I quit carrying them with years ago. Then went on trip to Stick Marsh with George Welcome. Caught nice fish on a trap, so I dug out a box full from the garage and put it in my crank bag. Took it back out at the end of the season because all I could catch on them were dinks. This time I gave them all away. Blasphemy? Maybe so, but these baits have no place in my tackle bags.

I dislike braid, too.  But it's a necessary evil.  Truthfully, I dislike anything that isn't a topwater, drop shot, or spinnerbait.  But I fish other stuff that isn't a C-rig.

I'm with you on the C-rig. Can't remember the last time I had one tied on. It's been quite a while.

Necessary evil. Nope. Not necessary, just evil. LOL

I'd rather catch one bass on a topwater than two on a subsurface lure. Maybe three. I love thiose YouTube videos of dramatic topwater explosions.

I fish mono attached to a braid leader.

I've seen two Elite Pros do this exact thing in clear water when fishing top water lures.

Can you guess why?

I mis read your post.

I thought you said braid with a mono leader. My bad.

The two pros fished braid with a mono leader, as I said.

Not mono with a braid as you posted.

Sorry i mis read your post.

In any event, can you guess why they would use a mono leader on braid in clear water for top water lures?

I use braid with a mono leader for topwater (obviously besides frogs) because the mono is less prone to tangling with the hooks.

I dont use braid.

My clothes are not matching or stylish when i fish. Socks in sandles.

I used a hammer as an anchor.

I sing A LOT when fishing and half the time it is a stupid song or tune i hate.

Bananas in boat.

Never sight fish.

When i catch a big fish, i will spend half of the rest of the day going back to the livewell and stare at the fish.

I dont do the tough guy, im so bad, i am pretending this is normal so i wont smile look after a big fish. I have to smile.

I dont need to do instructional youtube videos since people can just use their eye balls to see what im doing if they feel like it. Plus nothing i do is innovative. I just copy what i have seen other people do that is successful. I may feel like i am soing something new, but i probably subconsciously remember it from something i saw or heard.

When I was a kid my dad really wanted a pontoon so he got one. I really wanted a fishing boat so I fished from the pontoon. We used a cinder block for an anchor exclusively because the pontoon was like a sail when the breeze picked up. We would use two blocks if it was "whitecapping in the commode."

I use round reels. No low profile.

Josh

I still have two of these that I bought for striper fishing. I even had a sideplate with clicker put on them. They're like new because I never use them anymore.

I rarely ever use jigs or spinnerbaits. Haven't had much success on spinners and just never bought a jig before. I learned most of my bass fishing on spinning setups so I could fish with just spinning rods and reels.

At one power plant cooling lake I fish if bass fishing is slow and the carp are in the shallows I'll change the itenerary of the day to fly fishing for carp.   There is also a fair chance that you will find a dozen or so nightcrawlers in the cooler in case I get bored bass fishing and decide to pop some panfish.   And, occasionally, I will fly fish for carp with a nightcrawler on a bass fishing trip.

Rat L Trap fished as slowly as possible.

When I tell people your braid will last an entire season longer if you don't add backing.

1. Fill spool completely with braid.

2. use until not enough braid on spool

3. NOW add backing, use same braid. BOOM

Haven't caught any fish on that darn whopper plopper. Right now its sitting on my coffee table and I'm trying to decide whether I should put it in the tackle box or just leave it where it is.
