Without getting technical about the actual definition of mod-fast and fast actions.

Would you say a Medium power fast action casting rod have about the same flex or give or feel what have you as a M/H power Mod-Fast action casting rod from the same manufacturer?

Technically they don't have the same flex, but what you want to know really can't be answered accurately. Every manufacturer is different as there isn't a true industry standard so it would depend on the rod. If all things were equal, the medium power, fast action would probably have a similar amount of forgiveness because it is a lighter power so it takes less force to make it bend but the mod-fast bends further down the blank providing extra cushion.

Yup it's just not as strong as a mh but it has about the same amount of give or flex like for squarebills and jerkbaits but mf won't hold up for let's say jigs spinnerbaits and frogs. IMO

I have to add some manufacturers mf are pretty stiff like my duckett mf for example I can't use it productivily for jerkbaits or squarebills because I'll rip the bait out of the mouth.

But other manufacturers like my past abu mf you may able to get a good moderate action for let's say again squarebills or jerkbaits with a mf rod it comes down to the blank the manufacturers are using.

Thanks for the input. I was meaning to compare them from the same company and line like the Mojo jerkbait vs the Mojo spinnerbait rod one is medium fast the other is MH mod- fast just as an example.

I keep looking for a jerkbait rod and all the Mod-fast rods I find there's something I don't like about them whether it be the overall length or handle length so I was wondering if the mojos medium fast would have a little more give with it being medium power.

I have two mojos scIII, I think the 6'8 mf is your best bet for jerk baits and you can even use it for 3/8 ounce crankbaits that rod was built with treble hook baits in mind since it is technically jerkbait specific, get the mojo don't look back  it's a great rod.

The power (resistance to flex) and action (where the rod initially bends when force is applied) are independent of one another. The only way to know is to handle both rods and see which best suits the need.

If what you are looking for is a nice jerkbait rod have you looked at an Abu Garcia IKE Delay series jerkbait rod.  It is 6'4 ( short handle means you do not beat up your arm) The EVA is a nice comfortable firm type, not the cheap squishy kind. I have a bunch of time on mine and really like it.  If you prefer cork?  Check out a Powell max 6104 CB.  The handle ic a bit shorter if I remember correctly.  I just sold a St Croix premier 6 foot medium that wold work good for most 1//4 to 3/4 spinnerbaits.  What exactly are your preferences.  Lastly call Tom of Toms Custom rods and have him build you exactly what you want. If he builds it it will be beautiful and fill your needs.

I haven't ruled out the IKE series yet. I need to get back to bps and get the Ike series, Mojo, and lews custom speed stick side by side to narrow it down

You better call ahead. I am not sure they will have them in stock.  This BPS is stocking more and more of only BPS gear. I was there on Thursday and I do not remember if they had any Ike rods in stock.  If you run around the beltway to Angler's Express you could check out a bunch of other brands including Dobyns, Powell's, Duckett, one three, Irod, Cashion St Croix and some Shimanos as well.

I was there a couple weeks ago and they had half an aisle of them.

If its in your budget and you prefer a mod fast for jerkbaits check out the Megabass Orochi xx Jerkbsait special, Kistler KLX CRT line, or Megabass Levante Flatside or Spinnerbait Special. If you like a faster action a ST Croix in M/F or even rhe 6'8" M/XF work well for me with jerkbaits as well. Depending on what I'm fishing I use the MB Jerkbait Special, the St Croix M/XF or the KLX.
