blckshirt98 Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Is anyone else a little disappointed that there are so few Wikipedia pages for pro fisherman? There's a small handful of the big names but for the most part you need to go to the Elite or FLW or an angler's social media to find out any information or history about them. Anybody here a wiki editor that's able to create some pages for some of the pros? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:American_fishers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Fishers_by_nationality Quote
Bassun Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Just an FYI, unless it has changed, anyone can edit wikipedia. You used to just have to log in, then click the edit button. Formatting already exists, so one would only need to duplicate the formatting, and insert the info. Quote
mixel Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 I'm not disappointed. It's the job of the pro fishermen to market themselves and they (or their agents) should be posting up their profiles on wiki. It takes time to put together great information and skill to write a really good profile in a way that is straight marketing, but without sounding like straight marketing. And nobody else probably wants to take the time to do the research and content creation to help market them if they aren't getting paid to do so. I do wonder how much information on Wiki is wrong. I've seen many instances with people having fun with some info and putting in stuff that far fetched and obviously false, just for the fun of it. More amazed Wiki can be offered for free and fully supported by donations. Their monthly bill for web server usage must be in the 6 figures. 2 Quote
bmac31 Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 So funny was looking at the same stuff last night and thought the same thing. Even the KVD wiki page is weak. Brian Quote
