Josh_Bovaird Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 I got a MHX fs904 kit to build for Christmas I'm gonna get started on. But I'm curious how the MHX Elite Pro Blank EPS90HF compares to it? My buddy might buy this rod off me after I build it and I'm gonna build another and got looking at the Elite series. Gonna be mostly running 3/4oz with it. Is there any other rod blanks you guys suggest? Ive got around 100-150 to spend on a blank. Quote

I have no experience with the other tho so no help there. It seems like a nice blank I just seen the Elites are a smaller diameter and rated for 1/2-1oz Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 The elite pro is a higher modulus. They are extra reinforced compared to the HM line. They're designed to withstand tournament use durability is non problem. Whether they're worth the extra $ is up to you. Myself I reserve HM blanks for finesse rods. The standards are no slouch especially for the price. 2 Quote
Super User MickD Posted December 29, 2016 Super User Posted December 29, 2016 I'm wondering if blanks breaking on hook sets may be due to high sticking or rods having been damaged before the hook set. I've NEVER broken a rod on a fish. I suspect something else is going on rather than just a hook set. IMHO Quote

Seems like a killer rods for the deep grass beds on Cayuga. Quote
