Just picked up a Prez 6930 on sale.  These do not come with a spare spool.  I guess they used to?

Assume the only place to buy is through Pure Fishing, the makers of the reel?

if the cost of the spool is $20+ including shipping, it might make sense to just buy a second reel as I purchased the reel new at around $40?  Who else has run into this dilemma and/or what advice would you have?

You're probably on the right track. When it's going to be only $20 more to buy a new reel instead of just the spool, I'd probably just buy another reel as well.

You might look around and see if someone has a used reel or maybe a broken reel they want to part out that you could buy a spool off of. Other than that, it's going to be tough to find one cheap enough for it to make much sense.

Yep - Pflueger spinning reels came with extra spools for a long time but that finally ended within the last couple years.

Just FYI - you can get that spool at eReplacementparts.com - but just as you said, the spool is about $23 plus $5 for shipping.

Better to just get another reel and use the spool off of that. A few years down the road, if the first President starts getting a bit grindy, then swap reels...
