Super User .ghoti. Posted September 29, 2016 Super User Posted September 29, 2016 If I trim a new blank, from the butt end, is the warranty void? Quote
Batson Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Technically yes it would void the warranty as it does change the action of the blank and moves the “pressure” points when under load from where it was originally designed. But if something does happen we’ll still take care of you and at the very least offer a discounted rate on a replacement. 2 Quote

Super User .ghoti. Posted September 30, 2016 Author Super User Posted September 30, 2016 thanks for the quick reply, and the very nice offer. The reason I asked is I have a guy who wants me to quote four rods built on the new Eternity blanks. A 6'2", a 6'6", a 6'9" and a 7'. I've had a couple more talks with this guy, and I'm starting to think his cheese has slipped off his cracker. I'll likely back away from this project. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted September 30, 2016 Author Super User Posted September 30, 2016 Well, I just bought two of your new Eternity blanks and a sackful of F series titanium frame guides from Anglers Workshop. I will not be trimming these. LOL Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Stress test the blanks before you trim or build. Any defect will show up then and can be addressed. Later on, there would be contributing factors i.e. Handling, high sticking etc to any fracture. Quote

They both seem fantastic, can't wait to get some on the water time with them. Quote

These two are not for me, so I won't get any fishing time with them. I'm impressed so far. Light, crisp, very straight and a neat subtle finish; a huge improvement over the previous blue painted version, at least in the looks department. Quote

But now that I've stripped a couple of the old versions, I kinda like that blue/raw transition look. Grass is always greener right? :-) Quote
Batson Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 So far the early reviews on the new Eternity's is positive, with the few that have fished them. Quote

You got it! A 7'6" jig/worm rod, and a 6'8" jerkbait stick for brother Kent. I'm really liking that 6'8" blank. That will probably be the next blank I build for myself. After these two for Kent, I have three more in the queue. Then I can think about my next personal stick. He told me bought a Daiwa. I almost asked to whom am I speaking! LOL The sheriff of the Shimano posse, with a Daiwa? Is nothing sacred? The four rods I mentioned earlier in this thread are not for Kent. This was a local guy who wanted those. I told him there would be no warranty on three of them, so he backed off. I didn't have to. 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 4, 2016 Super User Posted October 4, 2016 Be sure to put on the protective coating so the Diwawa doesn't corrupt the rod! Should I store the reel in a lead box in a different room? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 4, 2016 Super User Posted October 4, 2016 As long as you wear appropriate protection, the reel will be okay. I'm still marinating your bearings, btw. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted October 4, 2016 Author Super User Posted October 4, 2016 John, you'd best put some of the "special" Daiwa magic lube in that reel. It's gonna be hangin out with a whole flock of shimanews. 1 Quote
