Yes I had taken my motor to the repair shop i had a piece of magnet break off. We decided to run it without totally replacing the magnet setup ( may have lost 5 pounds of thrust verses a big repair) The guy working on the motor showed me when he readjusted mine.

interesting.

not sure if this will be valid or not on a motor guide but will have to take a look this evening.

I ran across this video the other day and decided to give it a try on my kayak TM (MK Endura C2 30).  I raised my top speed by .3 mph from 2.9 to 3.2!  Not a huge difference, but it's definitely noticeable.  It'll also add some efficiency, as it'll allow me to cover the more water using the same amount of power.  I was surprised to find out how far I needed to turn it, straight from the factory.  It was a good 1/3 turn.

It should work on any DC electric motor, in principle.  All you're doing is aligning the magnets with the commutator so they reverse polarity at the same time, versus having a little lag between them.  It's something I used to do with RC cars, back when I was a kid to get them to run faster, and never thought to apply it to a trolling motor.

Bankc you're increasing your speed 10% which is a bunch.  I've been doing this for a long time and it works with Motorguide and Minnkota.

Since this popped up again I watched it again and just realized that this is an Ultrex, wonder if this will work with an Ulterra?

Did it with mine. My fin was way off center. Moved it about half an inch and it was much quieter.

I had done this years ago but forgot about it. Went out and tuned it, it was off some.
