Lyman X Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Glenn, in watching your review of Seaguar flippin' braid I saw that the stripper on your rod is only about 8-10in. in front of the reel. Is that a telescopic rod, or is the stripper fixed at that point for a reason. I'm not familiar with flippin'rods. Thanks, Lynn Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted August 4, 2016 Super User Posted August 4, 2016 I think that's the Okuma Matt Daddy, which has a guide close to the reel for the purposes of easier flipping. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted August 4, 2016 BassResource.com Administrator Posted August 4, 2016 By "stripper", I assume you mean the first eyelet on the rod, nearest the reel. So in that context... It's not a telescopic rod. It's an Okuma Mat Daddy flippin' stick. That eyelet is there on purpose, so that when you flip, you grab the line between the 1st and 2nd eyelet, instead of between the first guide and the reel. This makes is virtually impossible to get tangled. I have a full review on the rod here - it's literally the exact rod/reel that's in the video: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/tcs-cerros-reel.html Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 4, 2016 Super User Posted August 4, 2016 Exactly what Glenn said. I actually have wanted there to be a guide there on rods that I flip with. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Talk to a custom builder(if you know one)? 5 Quote
Lyman X Posted August 5, 2016 Author Posted August 5, 2016 Thanks for the responses guys. I learn a lot on here. And DVT I actually am a custom builder, for family and friends, just very little exposure to flippin' sticks. thanks again, Lynn Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 It's a great craft be it hobby or more! I clear something with every build and reading in between. Quote
