the 7 6 duckett cranker i purchased this spring is pretty flimsy in the tip not sure if the 7 footer is the same but i dont think ild throw anything else on it.  but i really like how it loads as a crank bait rod

All of Ducketts crankbait rods are top notch. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

I think all Ducketts are overrated power wise and have a softer tip.  I like the crisp blanks they use.

I have the 7' medium Ghost and it's very light weight and does have good backbone when you get to it, but I find it to have to much action to throw crank baits that dive deeper than 8-10 feet. I have rigged this rod to throw weightless plastics to open water fish with good success. Another application I've found it good for is throwing small mirrordines at schooling speckle trout, the quick tip keeps the hooked. If your just looking for a good cranking rod I suggest an crankinstik. I have one paired with a Shimano Cardiff 100a, for under $200 it a fantastic setup.

Ghost are not good cranking rods! The guides  are not made for it. We had a previous post of a picture of the guide on the tip of a ghost cranking rod grinding and grooving causing the line to break. This is why my ghost is only for jig and worm.

I understand your bad experience, but it isn't fair to categorize ALL Duckett rods as junk because their LOW GRADE Rod was flawed. I owned a Ghost and didn't care for it, but I also own Micro Magics, White Ice, and Terex rods and haven't had a single issue. I'd give their other rods a try, might I suggest a Micro Magic.

If you toss out a brand of rods do to one bad experience, then you're eventually going to run out of rods! Every brand will Abe an issue from time to time. Maybe you just got a dud. Either way, there are plenty of other good brands out there. More Ducketts for me!

Changing out a rod tip takes 30 seconds and you can buy an upgraded tip for less than $5.  So far I haven't had those issues with the Ghost.

Why would I give it away when I can sell it to some one for 20$ off still have 80$ to invest in a good rod!

Duckett Ghosts have been known to have quality control issues. Better to stick with a proven rod such as a St Croix, Shimano or Dobyns.
