Need help fishing a pond

Hey guys, I live in Long Beach, CA and I have been fishing a pond near me called Eldorado park.  It has three ponds in the park, but I fish the bigger lake that have lots tullies as cover.  During the spawn I was doing pretty well with keitechs, but with summer coming along, I have been getting skunk.  This whole week I tried everything from different reaction bait with different retrieve to flipping and punching.  I haven't gotten any bites at all.  All I know is the grass and moss grass are a couple inches below the surface, schools of small bluegill are around the shore, and occasionally bass chasing bait fish on top.  The temperature here in Long Beach has been between high 70s to low 80s.  Im also bank fishing.  Any tips on what to do?

Can't use float tubes there.  They do rent out paddle boats but it will be quite expensive

in the dog days of summer you gotta have more tricks in ur hat that reaction baits.

you can use big lures slowly like dragging 10" worms.

or small baits quickly like 3" swimbaits or roadrunners

or better yet small baits slowly like the Ned rig.

Have you tried a weightless wacky rigged stickbait (senko)? That's usually my go-to fish producer when nothing else works.

I also had some unprecedented success here recently with a shaky head and a senko. The fish were on the bottom in relatively clear water and ate it up.

Maybe try a bluegill colored 3/8 swim jig, frogs are always a good idea in the grass as well. T-rig a big ribbon tail worm, peg the weight and fish it slow is always a go-to for me.

I've read that article many times when I first started bass fishing a few years ago.  I wasn't just using reaction bait, but I was also threw jigs and flipped senkos both weightless and Texas rig.  I haven't tried it wacky rig style, but I did throw a flick shake on a 1/16oz jughead with no luck.  I'm gonna go out later this evening with a topwater and a rage tail anaconda on the Carolina rig and see if I can get into deeper water since I'm struggling in the shallows

LOOK southern califonia has been messing around with the lakes in the past year. Let these bass and other fish dwell in ponds and lakes freely. They bite better. BOTTOM LINE. Keep the lakes clean of mega alge and all will be well. Dorado was muddy and ugly waters last time i was there. CLEAN THIS MESS UP CALIFORNIA. WE ARE LOOSING BASS FISHERIES ALL IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. Hemet and diamond Valley are the last great ones. 

Im coming from military in georgia so i know what real fishing looks like. This aint it. Put those 2 pounders in and catch and release bass period. Cant keep them period. Until further notice. 

And please feed the lake so they dnt starve. Live bait is best. Throw shad crawdads and natural worms in. And catch and release. Do it. STOP KILLING GOOD FISHING GUYS.

Kind of a different spin on it --- maybe it's just a matter of timing.  It's summer.  It's hot.  Maybe try going a little earlier, or a little later and get going on a topwater bite before (and after) the sun's up and cooking things.  I love a good topwater bite in the dark.  Ton's of fun, and you're not fighting the heat!

Fish a Floating Rip Bait over the grass, you may need 20lb test mono to keep the bait high, but if you can get a hardbait like a bomber long A, Rapala, Bagleys bang o lure, Red Fin over the weeds, I have always done better with bigger fish over submerged vegetation where fish see flukes and frogs all day long.

I like the Long A for long casts, I don't care about color since fish are coming through the weeds to smash it, so I color the back bright pink with nail polish so I can see it and steer it around grass, make sure it is tracking true and not carrying weeds, or if it vanishes then I know it was inhaled. If you get some wind it often works better, I work the bait slow most days in the Summer. Twitch twitch pause....good 5 seconds or more, then barely touch it, and work it slowly. 

Wake baits work but I find it easier to control a floating Jerkbait, or simply slowly wake it, the Red Fin is good but tough to cast on heavy line and long casts seem to be key many days since fish come from a long way at times to strike. 

Many tournaments in Florida are won using floating Jerkbaits during the post Spawn and Summer, they don't get talked about much, but Floating Jerkbaits are the most under utilized lures in Bass Fishing and I always end up going back to this technique every year or every tough day, it flat out works and can be used over grass 3" to the surface, or topped out if you clip trebles, use fly fishing line spray for bouyancy and modify lures by sanding off paint etc....

I would use the standard Long A 15 size, and if you want to go Rapala I like the F-13 over heavy weeds since it can handle heavier line, some guys throw the long a on 50lb braid over Hydrilla.
