How much will a rod be affected if the tip is broke off?

I have never felt a broken rod that I would accept as re-purposed for bass use.  If warranty would not take care of it, I'd give or throw it away and get a new one.

There's no static spot on the blank that can be identified as the backbone. When the tip is trimmed it will take more weight to load and will bend deeper into the new length initially which is the definition of action.

If you were fishing a 3/8 oz jig with a trailer before you broke the tip, and continue to fish the same bait with it broken.  What will be the difference in the action now that the tip is shorter?

Trimming a blank from either end slows the action. To what degree it's affected depends on all the variables between blanks. The only way to really measure it is with the Common Cents System but you're getting into real Rod building geek territory. Try it out and see what happens.

Not a bad idea, but I kind of like my rods the way they are now (in one piece).  LOL   Thanks for the info.
