I am upgrading my electronics on my 2010 PT 175. I want to get a Helix 7 for the bow. I am afraid it is too big and might be in the way. The front deck does not have much space to begin with. Does anyone use one this size at the bow for a smaller boat like this? If so where did you locate it? Thanks

There's pro's running 2 12" units up front, yes they run bigger boats but the only part of the boat that's bigger is what's behind them. If I were you I wouldn't mount my locator on the actual deck, I'd put it on a ram mount at either of these two locations or close to it. tracker.PNG

I have a ranger rt178 and just mounted a helix 10 at essentially right below the spot marked "1" in wiguide's pic above.  It is a nice size display for sure.  I made sure it was close enough for optimal viewing and far enough to not kick it.

One other consideration is that landing spot next to your trolling motor. If you use that as an access point onto and off of your boat you will want to make sure the unit is placed in a lower traffic spot to prevent tripping or damage to the unit.

Are you guys using the trolling motor for the transducer or mounting two in back

I have a 2016 PT 175TXW and put a 7" Garmin Striker right in front of the trolling motor pedal with a Precision Sonar bracket from Tackle Warehouse. BTW the bow is already pre wired for adding a sonar unit.

I have a Helix 12 CHIRP SI GPS on the bow of my Tracker PT 170 TX. I had an ONIX 10 SI there before that and a 1198c SI before the ONIX.

I use the D size RAM with the base aft of the bow light socket.
