crankbank Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Hey Guys, Thinking about making a trip out here in August. Anyone have experience fishing here? Would it be worth a 4.5-5 hr drive (live in NE Mass)? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, CB Quote
Mikeyslikz Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Only fished it once but it's a heavy heavy water traffic lake . Fishing is very hard in the summer and I have yet to uncover any spots . Best idea in the summer is to head over to docks along the northern part of the lake and use that as a starting point . I'm going to head up there this weekend I'll keep u posted if I get anything . 1 Quote
Landis Carrier Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Very heavy water traffic! Weekends can be crazy. Quote
PAGreg Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 No, not worth that sort of ride. I'd head west into any of finger lakes or Oneida before going to the pack. 3 Quote
Super User tomustang Posted March 14, 2016 Super User Posted March 14, 2016 Its a good lake but you have to work for it, they like it early up there 1 Quote
thomas15 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Would it make sense to target smallies at the pack? Quote

I've fished Cayuga and it can be awesome for smallies and largemouths in the fall. 1 Quote

I've only fished it twice (once was probably 20 years ago) and it seemed like a great recreation lake and not so much a great fishing lake. I wouldn't drive the 2 hours it would take me to get there let alone 4-5. Quote
Megastink Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Not worth the drive. Go to Candlewood in CT. Quote
