I peruse some of the Jdm reel sites and rarely see sales. Just old models disappear and the new ones on there. I know the japanlureshop had some shimanos on sale awhile back but they went super quick. Is that the deal with other sites? Can you sign up to get email alerts?

Seems like a bunch of new reels coming out would love to pick up an older model at a discount

If you are a Daiwa fan, Platt has a few of the T3 variances on sale for super cheap right now. They have an e-mail newsletter, that's how I was made aware.

Japan Tackle I know will offer reels in the bargain room for a significant savings and sometimes as much as 50% off. I know Japan Lure Shop has had some similar savings when they moved out the 50 series Alde's. If you are looking for a % off coupon code or Holiday sale like you would see in US I don't think you will find that. Just be careful not to hesitate too long with hopes of better price as sometimes their stock goes so quickly that the next thing you know the reel you are looking at is sold out.

This is the truth. For some reason about 4 months ago JLS got some stock of the Scorpion 1500XT for $120. I was gonna get back on the next day and buy a couple and they were sold out.

Evan,

Most sites allow you to signup for their newsletters/alerts, do it and you will be in the loop.

The best thing to do when buying JDM reels is to know the release schedules for new products. In Japan the companies unveil their new products in late January  early February for their big fishing trade shows. This will affect the USDM market as well. So anything that is going to be discontinued will generally be clearanced out a few months before hand. For exampme When the Scorpion xt was being clearanced out a few months ago I knew they would be coming out with a new one.

Thanks for the replies guys. I signed up for a newsletter and will keep checking. That looks like a nice reel smallie.mike.  I'm really hoping I can find a 13 on close out though.

I believe that is the regular price due to the weak yen against the dollar. My cheapness has me holding out for more.

I'll just checked again and it's 271,  I don't think you'll find one much cheaper than that.

The 16 certate looks like it is an emerald green color, now I'll have an excuse to buy a new green legend elite to match it. :D I really like that they used the bail from the exist on the new certate!
