Super User Jigfishn10 Posted January 2, 2016 Super User Posted January 2, 2016 Lengths and weights listed on the package? Would the length include the diving lip? Is the weight without the hardware (hooks & split rings)? Not that it makes a $h1t of a difference, just curious. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted January 2, 2016 Super User Posted January 2, 2016 I do not believe there is any real industry standard as far as length & weights go. That said, I generally feel the weight of cranks & topwaters is sort of close, spinnerbaits weights seem to vary wildly as do some jigs. As for over all length, again no standard, but I don't think most include the lip length to the published / packaged length. I don't have a problem with it. Seems to go hand in hand with the anglers who don't carry a scale or camera. A-Jay 2 Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted January 2, 2016 Super User Posted January 2, 2016 Jerkbaits and crankbaits do not count the lip as part of the overall length and the weight is with hardware on. Spinnerbaits and jigs are a different story as the weight is basically the head size not including the skirt or even the paint and that is why they vary so wildly. You will have a little difference on the crank weights because of the finish as well. 1 Quote
