I have used some but I am not sold on their effectiveness. The extra action on the pause with the feathered hooks probably counters the subdued action on the moving side. I have added a few to the rear of baits that came with plain hooks & never felt the addition was worthwhile.

I tried it a few years ago - tied my own.

It does slow down the action - how much depends on the bulk of the feathers used.

On a few occasions the slow down took a few smallies right after ice out.

I got a few to nip at the tail while the bait sat motionless on the pause.

But it turned out to work very good for walleye so that's about the only place I use them now.

If you put feathered trebles on them, they attract GIANTS like these:

I see the feathers being somewhat effective on a pause, but it seems like when you put the bait in motion with a nose down attitude it would lay down against the belly? Although, on a floating model used for a topwater may be a different story?

IDK, doesn't sound like it's worth it.

Hey Wayne, ahhh, which one is the jerkbait?

I agree with Dwight Hottle, I have X-Raps, and Yo-Zuri 3DB jerkbaits that have dressed trebles and I'm not sure how much difference they make. I tie my own and have added them to baits without dressed trebles and I didn't see any difference in the amount of strikes or the size of fish. I have said it doesn't seem to help but it also doesn't seem to hurt either, I have X-Raps that caught fish with the dressed treble and had a  few fish hit it hard to the point the feathers and flash were gone and the bait still continued to catch. I also replaced the bare treble with a dressed one and it still worked well and because of this I'm not sure but if it gives you added confidence then it will probably help you, for me it doesn't matter, if it comes with a dressed treble then I fish it like that, if it doesn't I won't add one, simple solution.

I use feathered treble hooks mainly for sunshine bass on floating minnow lures, suspending, sinking and rat'L traps. They have worked well in Harris Lake over the years and the St. Johns river. For some reason those sunshine bass like a lot of flash and flair and adding some tail feathers with a foil flash added in along with the feathers has raised my catch percentage for that species.

The feathers tend to give the bait a larger profile in the water. A 3 inch minnow lure with added tail feathers can now look like a 4 inch lure and may give the lure some life like side to side tail action that might attract or trigger a bite.

I also sometimes use them on surface poppers. The popper floats on top, but the rear feathered treble hook sags down into the water and may appear as tail action. Not sure, but some working theories...

I don't tie my own. I could, but I get them so cheap off ebay why bother?

I use x-raps when bass are just flashing on other baits and it will usually work . Dont know if the feathers help or not .
