Super User *Hootie Posted December 19, 2015 Super User Posted December 19, 2015 Is there going to be a mobile version of this change. All I am finding on my phone is the full version. Hootie Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted December 19, 2015 Super User Posted December 19, 2015 Same here. It's not very user friendly. The full version on my pc is nice, but this is not near as good as the last mobile version. 1 Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted December 19, 2015 Author Super User Posted December 19, 2015 Agreed, I liked the old version much better. Hootie 1 Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted December 19, 2015 Super User Posted December 19, 2015 I agree, the mobile version is not nearly as user friendly. 1 Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 19, 2015 BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 19, 2015 The "mobile version" and desktop version are the same now, bringing much more flexibility and features to the "mobile version" than ever before. I realize it's a steep learning curve if you're used to the old "mobile version". It's an adjustment to be sure. But I think after you've had some time to get used to it, you'll wonder why you liked the older version. 3 Quote

Hootie Hey Hootman, you've been around as long as I have and lived thru all the changes to the site? We've heard how "The old format was better!" I really like it and I'll bet in a couple years or so from now when Glenn decides to upgrade the site you'll be saying the same thing....let it play out my friend. I've found features coming back in the last 24 hours that I hoped would come back. It doesn't look like all the updates are done. Keep the faith my friend! I hope you have a great Holiday Season! Just wanted to know if there was a mobile version. I will adjust. I am as adjustable as a pair of old suspenders. Technology waits for no one. Hootie 4 Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 20, 2015 BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 20, 2015 Just to answer the same questions I've been getting via PM and emails about the old mobile site: There isn't a Mobile Version anymore. Mobile and desktop are the same, meaning one version now. There is no Mobile Version switch or button to toggle versions. There's nothing to toggle anymore. There's no going back to the old version. There's no way to see the old version. Please see This Announcement for more details about the new features and functions of the redesigned forums. There's a lot, especially if you previously only used the mobile version. Thanks! Glenn 1 Quote

Super User tomustang Posted December 20, 2015 Super User Posted December 20, 2015 So where's the view new posts button from mobile? I don't get what you mean how there's only one version now, mobile and desktop are very different. Mobile view is missing links and the adverts are basically hidden since they're at the bottom. 1 hour ago, Glenn said: Just to answer the same questions I've been getting via PM and emails about the old mobile site: There isn't a Mobile Version anymore. Click on the options menu (the three lines next to the search menu) and go to activity streams. There's a "view new content" option in there. All it takes is some looking around but people would prefer to lose their minds. Quote

Yeah sure, a key link that suppose to be in the open just like it always was is now hidden behind 3 clicks. When all you run is desktop mode on a mobile phone since I don't have a tiny iphone that needs mobile versions of websites, sure can't know every one of the changes when you can see anything. Nice assumption of what people's minds look like when there lost. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 20, 2015 BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 20, 2015 Click the button I've circled. Viola! New unread content!! One click, right in front of you. Can't miss it. . And yes, both desktop and mobile are indeed the same. Just go to your desktop and resize your browser window, and you'll get the different mobile views. That's how I got the screenshot - from my desktop. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted December 20, 2015 Super User Posted December 20, 2015 2 questions. When I'm on mobile I get a warning that the certificate is untrusted..its a pain in the butt because it pops up often. Also, when I click a thread it doesnt take me to where I left off it starts at the beginning every time..quite a pain especially on long threads. Thats on mobile as well. Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 20, 2015 BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 20, 2015 I'm not sure why you're getting the certificate error. I updated the site certificate about a month ago to a new one with a better encryption algorithm. You might want to clear out the certificates in your device, as you could have a conflict with the old one. Also check to ensure you're viewing the site via http:// and not https:// ----------------- Click the "X minutes ago" link. It will take you to the last post on the thread. If you scroll up from there, you'll see a thin blue line, showing you the spot where you last left off. It's not as graceful as the previous version. We're working on that. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted December 20, 2015 Super User Posted December 20, 2015 Thank you Glenn. Your really putting in a lot of work to help guys out. 1 Quote

This is the only part I have to complain about as well. I liked that it took me to exactly where "I" left off in the thread. This is pretty convienent on popular threads thst may have a couple pages of replies a day. I'm sure Glenn will get that worked out. 13 minutes ago, Glenn said: Click the "X minutes ago" link. BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 20, 2015 BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 20, 2015 Ha! I have to laugh at myself. I should have known this, but I just figured it out. Clicking the topic itself will just bring you to the top of a thread. In order to jump to the last read post, you will need to click the circle or star icon next to the title of the topic in the "forum topic" or "view new content listings" view. In the board index listing, clicking the topic will go to your last unread post. 1 Quote
