hzzhangc Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I've recently got a St Croix legend elite (brown blank) and when I was checking it today I found there is a very bulky epoxy glue under the first guide (see pics). It doesn't make any sense to me for such a big drop of glue on a factory built rod and makes me wondering if the guide was been repaired. If someone has the same rod would you please check if for me please. Thanks in advance. Quote
5fishlimit Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 That looks about right. I don't own a Legend Elite, but I do have two Legend Tournaments, and they have a similar bulge like that. I don't worry about it too much. Quote
Super User MickD Posted November 20, 2015 Super User Posted November 20, 2015 Why would you not send the photo and question to St Croix? To me it looks like less than great workmanship but not a functional problem. Quote
k3bass Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 That looks factory. Even if the tip top has been replaced it's not a big deal as long as the blank is ok. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted November 21, 2015 Super User Posted November 21, 2015 It's called a football. Too much finish was applied and it bulges at the middle of the wrap. All manufacturers are guilty. Every guide on this rod looked like this. Quote
