Looking for a new rod around the $200 price range (most of these will be with the upcoming 20% off for Black Friday).  Any experience with these 3 rods?  I actually have an Avid so know they're good rods, but can this particular model handle the lighter lures?

Any other recommendations in this class that can handle lures down to 1/8 or 3/16 oz?

  1. Daiwa Zillion 6'6" M/XF 1/8 - 5/8 oz
  2. Shimano Poison Adrena 6'6" M/MF 3/16 - 3/4 oz
  3. St Croix Avid 6'9" ML/XF 1/8 - 1/2 oz

Thanks!

What reel are you using?

great question, second part of the internal debate i have going on.....

could use my curado 51e's or chronarch ci4 151hg.  BUT i'm also looking to purchase another rod around Black Friday and may look at Lew's Team Pro that i quite literally just posted a question about.

thinking either way would likely spool up with something like 8-12lb flouro or maybe copoly.

The reason why I asked, and I know it's just another thing to spend money on, is you might want to invest in a shallow spool. If you want to cast down to a true 1/8oz, a shallow spool takes all the headaches out of doing so and shallow spools are available for your Shimano's that have the ability to cast lighter weight but still have adequate line capacity for LMB.
