Iv always used yum dingers because of the price but over the weekend I went to the flea market and found bags of senkos for a $1 a bag, along with some other brands, so let's see what all the fuss is about. I'll try them next time I go out.

That may or may not be one of the smarter choices you've made in your life......

Seems like people either 100% love them, don't see anything special in them, or hate them. You'll have to find out which category you're in.

If I hate them at least I didn't pay retail price. If I love them I could deal with retail price, we'll just have to see.

Personally they are a love hate relationship for me. I believe they are scented better, and have better action and weight. I fish them every way imaginable.  I hate the way they don't hold up. I mean really don't hold up, usually one or two bites. Also working them around heavy cover breaks them down fairly quick. IMO they do catch more fish than other brands, I think it's due to the action rather than the scent. A dollar a bag is a steal, I would have bought every single bag.

Good luck with them!

Yea I've heard they don't hold up well, figured a $1 a bag I might as well try them for myself.

i mean for $1 a bag, how can you go wrong?

look up using heat shrink tubing on the senkos for wacky rigging.  Holds the hook in place much better and makes the worm last MUCH longer.

Will the o rings I use on yum dingers not work as good? I'll check on the heat shrink tubing.

i think having the hook perpendicular to the bait is MUCH better for hookups....  here is the article i was looking for, written by BR member Wayne P

super easy to do with senkos.  go to lowe's or home depot and find 3/8" heat shrink tubing in the electrical section.  cut in small strips, slide over worm and heat with lighter or heat gun.  sometimes, don't even need to heat them.  easy to do and very cost effective for those pricey GY senkos....

When I got back in to fishing a couple years ago I was sold by the name Gary Yamamoto.  People I've talked to use them and love them so I figured I would too.  This year I was at WalMart and saw Yums in green pumpkin and a couple other colors I like for less than half the price.  I picked up a few bags because I was out of senkos.  Thus far, I have not only had significantly more bites on the Yums, but more bites before needing to move the hook or replace the bait.  I find the senkos to be very fragile and slip and rip easily due to the salt packed in there.  Where I fish, I'm casting in to area that can get pretty weedy this time of year and I was going through GY Senkos way to quick for the price I paid.

Yums for me from here on out.  The only one I havent found a good replacement for is the swimsenko.

Live and die by the GYCB Senkos. Although finally tried one of probably 100 strike king ocohos  this weekend and they produced well. I would be skeptical of the authenticity of the GYCB senko for $1 a pack, as I am with most things at a flea market. DO you have a pic of the bag/ do they look legit? If so, that is an awesome deal.

Strike King Shim E Sticks have a falling shimmy action very similar to the Senko, and they're more durable.

Love them or hate them. I'm not sure.

My very first time using senkos was a success. And more success where ever I try them. I use a 1/4oz brass bullet weight with a ticker on a 24" leader c rig.

Presentation is the key.

I have a 9' droppoff in front of me. It's a channel with a deadline edge to my right. I can cast the c rig senkos and let it fall keeping the line snug watching the rod tip for the slightest nibble.

Or twitch it as it falls letting the ticker do it's thing. At the same time the senkos that's wacky rigged waves itself. I only use scent on used senkos after a hit n miss.

If I'm seeing success with senkos then everyone should if your on the fish. If not you need to find where the bass are.
