recently picked up a scorpion xt1000 and a chronarch 50e. wanting to use one on my topwater rod and the other for throwing senkos and flukes and whatever lighter stuff i can get away with on a 6'8medium cumara. wondering which reel would be better suited for the lighter stuff or do they both handle the lighter stuff equally well?

They will handle them equally well. The XT1000 is Japan's version of a 50 size shimano

I will agree with the others... It really doesn't matter. But if it helps any, I throw my flukes on my chronarch 50e with great success.

Color coordinate them to your rods if you can and go have a beer after all that hard work.

Lol agreed. Hey John G you got a chance to pick up an Antares HG yet? I've still been looking...

No and Japan Tackle never got back to me about the availability. I have had one before and then sold it and was regretting it and now I am over it. Time to move on. Truthfully, it's a big reel and too big for my hands but it's by far the smoothest reel that I ever owned. I am more into the BFS thing now and I am having a lot of fun throwing Strike King Bitsy Minnows and other untralight lures.

Spools and internals are nearly identical. The Scorpion has slightly better quality bearings and also the grey brake pins on the VBS system which emit less brake force. I would give the edge slightly to the Scorpion 1000XT for weightless or lighter baits.
