anyone own one? im big fan of the E series reels ive seen a couple of these used sale for good prices. was thinkin of getting one. im guessing its essentially a red curado but r there any other differences at all?

Not sure of the differences but I have one as a frog reel..love it. I think the 1000xt is the 50 series..the 1500 is a little beefier.

I just looked at the Schematics of both reels and the 1500 doesn't come with an anti reverse pawl. The XT1000 doesn't either so it's not a problem.
