Yanked on a snagged plastic worm today. It came flying back at me. Buried a 4/0 hook in my left arm. Past the barb. I looked at it for a few seconds, grabbed hold, gritted my teeth and jerked it out. Cleaned it up and got back to fishing.

I've been stung by the weight, but never the hook. Glad it was in a spot that you could get to. Take good care of the wound.

Put a dab of raw honey on your wound Hootie. It will keep it from getting infected.

Then he'll get stung by bees.

More man than me. I would have pushed it through and cut it if possible.

Have had happen several times....still remember the time I caught a small bass with a rattle trap and while it was in my hand a hook got buried and he shook his head.  Quite painful.  I squeezed him and he died and then I was able to get hooks out.  Still get goose bumps when I'm lippin a rattle trap fish!!!

The exact same thing happened to me the other day. But I caught a nice 4 lber. I was trying to unhook it and he started shakin his head, and I got a nice little treble hook buried in my thumb.

My first time as well. It happened on my second or third outing this year:

Caught a pickerel on a Rapala Rippin Rap and then I realized I forgot my pliers. I'm holding the fish by the back of the neck with my left hand, and trying to get the belly hook out of the toothy critter's mouth with my right. The fish is thrashing like nobody's business and the rear hook gets buried in the finger tip of my ring finger of my right hand. I am now handcuffed, because I can't let go of the fish, it's thrashing way too much.

I see a life guard...a young high school kid just getting on his summer vacation and getting on his shift...and ask for help. Hesitant, he asks what he can do? "PULL THE HOOK OUT OF MY FINGER!" Still hesitant, he starts to apply pressure on the barbed hook. "PULL IT!" He yanks and gets the hook out!

"Geez mister, that's the biggest fish I've seen caught here....BTW...Do you have any diseases I should know about?" As he shows me the blood on his hands. Gotta give it to the kid, he helped me out and asked the right questions!

I had a similar experience with a three pound smallie. That was the only time I didn't enjoy watching a smallie jump. It seemed like forever before I was able to cut the hook off the crank and free myself from what I can only describe as three pounds of TNT on a short fuse.
