Super User iceintheveins Posted July 8, 2015 Super User Posted July 8, 2015 I got rained on yesterday for a while, not real hard just a steady drizzle for about 30 minutes twice. During about half of that I had them covered with a tarp since I don't have a rod locker. With water getting in them, does that mean I have to clean them now in order to get top notch performance? Super User Catt Posted July 9, 2015 Super User Posted July 9, 2015 I'm not really sure but I think they are designed to get wet! 5 Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted July 9, 2015 Super User Posted July 9, 2015 Wipe the outside down if you want, but your ok till your scheduled maintenance Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Wipe them off and lay out yo dry and you'll be fine. Just don't lock th in a box or reel cover left wet. 2 Quote
John G Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Shimano recommends a light rinse so yes, they can get wet. Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted July 9, 2015 Global Moderator Posted July 9, 2015 I don't rinse them off when they get wet, just wipe off surface or not. Just let them air dry. I would think that If you rinsed them off at home, and have choline or other chemicals in your water, that can cause more damage long term than rain water, I'm sure you know (other folks may not) that if you do rinse them off, a light spray is all that is needed, don't rince at full blast.
