Lightning was slower in 1978.

It's a lot faster these days.

That is a great ad. I remember seeing ads in Florida Sportsman Magazine I guess back in the early 80's of guys using Shimano baitcasters catching sharks and I had to have one. It wasn't too long after that that I got my first Shimano baitcaster.

I actually had that reel at one time the shark add sold me lol.As I remember it was built like a tank and casted about the same.My first baitcaster was a pflueger supreme that had toothpaste put in the gears and hooked to a power drill to smooth them out.Anybody remember that trick?I later bought my own first free spooler a red abu 5000a.First low profile was Daiwa sm2a hawked at that time by none other than Bill Dance.Time flies.

Love those old ads about anything.

 

Lots of color and flash these days.

 

It is more of selling the "sizzle" in lieu of the "steak."
