FreddieMac Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I am a south Louisiana cajun boy raised on bass and pan fishing. In my youth I grew up every weekend in the swamps of southern Louisiana fishing with my Dad and Uncle. From age 16 to 18, I really got to where I did not like fishing as much as computers and girls. When I turned about 18 I decided I like girls, one in particular, and fishing much less. At 21 I took up golf and for the next 18 years I spent weekends playing golf with friends. I married that girl I like and we are still together today. Now that I am becoming more seasoned, golf no longer agrees with my body, especially my back. About two years ago I had to put the clubs away in the closet. In the past year, my wife and I began taking our kids camping and fishing was one of the things we started to try. My wife had never fished and she was concerned we would not know how to do it. We stopped by Walmart and bought some $20 fishing poles. I told her no fear, I have a couple of swamper relatives that put me through the south louisiana training and I quickly feel back into fishing. I set her up with some powerbaits and set her and the kids loose. But I was reluctant to try again, but her persistence paid off. I hooked into a fairly large bass and it stirred some really good old memories with my Dad and uncle. Since I can no longer play golf, I wanted my sons and daughter to have a small test of outdoors and fishing. So here I am 18 years of training, a 20 year bow out of fishing but back at it at 43.
