Megastink Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 I fish a lot of electric lakes and my 14' leaky riveted boat isn't getting it done anymore. I want to buy a 16-18' Jon boat with a trailer and deck the front and back. What brand of jons with trailers are most affordable? Quote
zachb34 Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 If buying used I would go for a grizzly. Although just about every company makes a similar boat and your location will probably dictate what can be easily found. Here Tracker's dominate the market since their so easy to find new. The Lowe roughneck is also nice. G3 makes the Eagle models, and alumacraft makes an all weld model. Those will all be pricey new. If you're looking for an electric only set up I would buy used. I own a tracker 1542 and it's an OK boat has plenty of room for 2 people and is pretty stable. It can be found cheaper used, but I paid $2,200 from Bass pro new with a trailer. 1 Quote

Super User tomustang Posted June 13, 2015 Super User Posted June 13, 2015 Have you looked into a glass boat 18-19' with a blown motor? Quote
curtis9 Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 I have a g3 1548 I use for an electric only lake. The previous owner extended the front deck and covered the battery compartment Quote

Megastink Posted June 15, 2015 Author Posted June 15, 2015 Have you looked into a glass boat 18-19' with a blown motor? I have an older dodge caravan and don't want the weight of a glass boat. Plus, some of the ramps I fish are shallow and I have to push the boat off the trailer. But thanks for the idea! Quote
Dogmatic Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I usually would have said CL, but was surprised to see very few options listed in our area. I had one right down the street for sale three weeks ago, that would have been perfect for you, guy only wanted 2K and it was relatively loaded. Good Luck. Quote
Dogmatic Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Boom! relatively short drive, and a fishing trip too... http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/158806-fishing-boat-3200/ Quote
Megastink Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 After looking around, I think I've settled on a tracker grizzly 1648. In my budget and comes with a front deck, and it's welded. I'll have to put a back deck on it this winter. Should be a good project! 1 Quote
golfrnut Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I know it's an old thread but.... Alweld owner, so a little biased. Their LA models have a huge deck on the bow and the back can be easily converted. Don't see many of them around, but we have one of the biggest dealers of them on the east coast in my area. Quote
