Super User Jigfishn10 Posted June 10, 2015 Super User Posted June 10, 2015 The fishery supports Landlocked Salmon, Rainbow, Brown and Brook Trout, I ruled out Brook and Brown Trout, and it just looks different to be a Rainbow. You're thoughts? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 10, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 10, 2015 Looks like a stocker rainbow to me. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted June 10, 2015 Author Super User Posted June 10, 2015 Looks like a stocker rainbow to me. I say it looks different because the 3 I caught previous had a more pronounced "Rainbow Trout" lateral line...you maybe right tho Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 10, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 10, 2015 They're usually really washed out looking like that around here. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted June 10, 2015 Super User Posted June 10, 2015 I agree, rainbow, and probably a stocker, not a natural. Although, once a stocker has been in the water long enough, the color and fins become such that you normally cannot tell the difference around here! Jeff Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 11, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 11, 2015 Let me be the odd man and say a juvenile brown I guess they probably get pretty plain colored in a lake or reservoir sometimes. I don't have much experience with browns but the ones I've caught, even the little guys are colored up and obviously brown trout. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted June 11, 2015 Author Super User Posted June 11, 2015 Let me be the odd man and say a juvenile brown Really? I never would have thought that? Quote
BooyahMan Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Looks just like a rainbow to me. All the rainbows we have look just like that, especially the stockers. Quote
desmobob Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I'd say it's a stocked rainbow. As for slonezp's brown trout comment, I can say that some of the stocked browns I've caught in some Adirondack lakes look incredibly similar to landlocked salmon; they don't show any of the normal brown trout colors. Tight lines, Bob Quote
Super User slonezp Posted June 12, 2015 Super User Posted June 12, 2015 Really? I never would have thought that? Do a search. Juvenile browns on Lake Michigan and the other Great Lakes tend to resemble rainbows/steelhead. I'm not really positive, just throwing it out there. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted June 12, 2015 Author Super User Posted June 12, 2015 http://www.eregulations.com/newhampshire/fishing/freshwater2011/know-the-difference-salmon-and-brown-trout/ I also read that trout have 12 or less rays on the anal fin and salmon have 13 plus. This one appears to be a trout. Thanks for your help guys, I really thought LL Salmon, I guess I was wrong. Quote
