We have 2 boys and the oldest is graduating HS in a week and off to college in the fall. I want to do something for my wife for the years of motherhood growing up a fine young man. Any ideas?

Oh, and this would be from me, not from our son.

Super-fancy restaurant?

Weekend at a bed and breakfast?

All kinds of ideas, just be creative.

You know her best. Treat her to something you know she likes and tell her how you feel about her accomplishments helping raise your son.

I'll say a quality Pearl Necklace could be a classy way to mark the occasion.

Of course the presentation will most likely have to include taking her someplace nice to show them off and a new outfit.

Good Luck

VACATION with her hubby. OMG This is the perfect time to rekindle. Remember what you guys did before the kids that you loved to do together. She doesn't want pearls, or diamonds, or a restaurant... She wants to know that you and her can still laugh and have fun together. Take her to a cabin on a lake fishing if she likes, or to the smokie mountains, camping, canoeing, rafting, something memorable that you both have enjoyed together. Redo the honeymoon, or take the one you always wanted. Take her dancing at a hole in the wall somewhere. I hope I helped. You're a good man. ;)

How about a sincere thanks. We take so much for granted throughout our lives and in our relationships and we don't realize the effort other put into making our life what it is. So, my vote goes to a hand written thank you card thanking her for the way she has raised the boys, and the impact she has had on your lives. Maybe include a picture of the first day of kindergarten and the recent grad picture. Then a candle light dinner with Raider in the jerky aisle at the Stop N Shop, and she will realize how good she has it.

All those times she had to put someone else's needs in front of her own, I would think a spa day would be great. A day where she gets to be the main focus point.

All great answers and a great help my friends. I have some ideas that incorporate everything mentioned above. I really appreciate the thoughts.

Thank you

Oh, and the Stop-n-Shop gonna bring her to tears....

Listen to the voice of experience.  Turn Junior's bedroom into her own personal space for her as a hobby/craft room or simply a female version of the "man cave".  Not only does it give her a place to retreat to, but you won't have to worry about the kid wanting to move back home after college until he's 35 years old!
