dam0007 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Not too long ago everyone had the Curado for $129. Now the new Citica is listed on a few sites for $149. Sure enough the Curado is back to the MSRP. Not for nothing but I'd feel ripped off paying $149 for a Citica at this point. /rant Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 2, 2015 Super User Posted June 2, 2015 I remember when gas we $ .99 a gallon. 6 Quote

Just out of curiosity, why did you pay so much for the Citica when the Curado can be bought cheaper all day everyday? Quote

Super User J Francho Posted June 2, 2015 Super User Posted June 2, 2015 So what's the question again? Quote
John G Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 It's shimano, most of their thinking doesn't make sense The only aspect of their thinking that I haven't liked lately is them bringing JDM reels to the USDM and making the new Antares such a large reel. Other than that, what's wrong with their thinking. Quote

Was just telling Hooligan I'm in the market for (4) reels. All the same, workhorse purposes. Really want 100ish size but metanium is out my price range for 4 lol. So I'm in the market none the less just happened to realize the pricing debacle. Surprised the Citica got a mark up I would be all over them day one. I may end up going with the Scorpion XTs or Chronarch Ci4s if budget allows it. Quote
ColdSVT Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I know the ch50 or scopion 1000 would be on my very very shortlist 2 Quote

Japan Lure Shop has the XT1000 for under $150.00 right now. I just got a Curado 200HG and I am thrilled with it. I prefer it over the XT1000 for bottom contact baits because of the fast gear ratio and it palms great. It's not as small as my XT1000's but it still palms great for me. Quote

It's a little crazy and a little frustrating because the Citica E was like a goldmine when it came to quality for price. The new Citica I looks awesome but as we've said, for $150? Not so sure. I'll buy one for closer to $100 whenever that chance comes along. I can wait until that time comes Unless that dreaded monkey dictates otherwise. Quote
John G Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 The 14 scorpion and curado I are they the same thing minus paint job? I think the only difference minus the pait job is the new Scorpion has 4 bearings in the handle and the Curado has 2. I am going to add 2 more bearings to my Curado handle eventually. Quote

Other than that, what's wrong with their thinking. E series chronarch and curado are close to the same thing, which downgraded the chronarch. Curado redesign to the G series in response to Lews getting more customers with speed spool models. The $100 added prices for JDM reels to US retailers. Their customer service can't decide either to warranty their reels for parts by sending you parts or having you ship it to them, and that goes for the same parts. Shimbindo fiasco that still occurs. Their denial of septon knobs getting sticky. To name a few.. Their service/responses/pricing at times is just off, doesn't make them bad of a company. But I won't derail any further Quote

But I won't derail any further I sent them my buddies bait runner 6500B to get repaired 3 times and they never fixed the issue which was the bail assembly they replaced everything else lol they ended up sending back a new model bait runner and a spare spool. So it paid off to complain about the miscommunications but still. Other than that I haven't had any issues with their service dept. always easy to get parts when needed and half the time they don't charge. 1 Quote
