Up here in the Northeast it's finally getting warm. After another long cold winter the temps are up. I've had a battle for the past week with the girlfriend over air conditioning. She wants it I don't. We're talking 80's during the day 65-70 at night; low humidity. I get the fans going and create an air vortex.

This is perfect sleeping weather for me. So without going into much more detail except that she has been on a cooking strike.

When do you put the a/c's in or turn on the central air?

Congrats on it being good for you, but why so against your gf actually being comfortable too.....

Have to keep it comfortable with a toddler in the house, nobody likes a cranky baby. Once it starts getting above 80 for highs, ours goes on.

The AC goes on when the wife says it does. End of story.

Northern Michigan is still transitioning into the warmer season - yea, that's it.

So the A/C might be on during the day and then the heat comes on at night - like last night and tomorrow night - below freezing.

This place is a little wacky . . . .

I turned mine on in March I think. I don't do heat well. We've already had several 90+ days, first one in April, I was dumb enough to be fishing that day. So here in the dirty south they cone on early and stay on late, I think mine is only off for 3 months a year, Dec-Feb

Tell me about it. I'm really trying to go a month or two without heat or A/C and keep the dang power bill down.

I can only get so naked. She can always put on more sheets for herself. We keep it cold for about 11 months out of the year in MS.

It was 46* frickin degrees this morning. I had the Save Phace on running across the lake. A hot bite was the saving grace

I have a buddy that does heating and air conditioning. He has always said that the guy will not pay to have the AC fixed till it's to hot to F%^&. Then they'll pay what ever it costs.

One other thing to consider.  In addition to keeping the house comfortable, it also keeps the humidity level in the house down.

Ever notice that doors start sticking in the summer?  It's due to the humidity.

Problem fungi, such as black mold and mildew do not do well in air conditioned buildings because the humidity levels are not sufficient for them to develop..

Okay, that's two things.

I keep the house at 66 year round at night whether it is heat or ac

some things are worth paying for

for the record i am never in my house durring the day

however this is the temp that I sleep the best

also sleep with two fans on me year round

I use window units and, even in Maine, I put them in around May 1st. We all like being comfortable and when its hot and sticky, no one is happy. We all have a little allergy to pollen so I like to keep the windows closed and use ac. As mentioned above, it also keeps the mold away and I really feel we are healthier with a closed, air conditioned house than with windows open or high humidity.

I live in a small house in the mountains (brutal winters)...but the summers get really hot and humid, and I simply can't sleep without AC at night.

During the day I don't care that much and usually just have the fans running.

When we are there i keep it at a brisk 62. when we leave for work I turn it off. If it gets below 62 during the night we deal with it. I've woke up once and it was 40 degrees in my house.
