NHbass'ntrout Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Me and a friend took the kayaks out and headed along the shoreline to the left. Shortly after i landed a 5lb bass near a small cove, we headed out of the cove to see what i am 90% sure was a gator swimming(i would be 100%, but this is NH) across the lake. I coukd only see the head but i have seen and caught gators fishing in florida before. I followed it about 30 feet away to snag a picture but it went under the water.I know they pulled out 2 gators from this pond in 2012, someone must be releasing them every year since they dont live the winter. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 13, 2015 Global Moderator Posted May 13, 2015 Could it have been a beaver or muskrat? We've had them found in KS too when people release pets that grow too large. Last one was a few years ago at a powerplant lake, found it dead in the winter. That one was over 6' long, big enough to have been a problem if the water had stayed warm enough to keep it alive. Quote
Phauren Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Did you report it to fish and game? They take that seriously Quote
Backwoodsbasser Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I' saw q gator in a small pond in s nh years ago. Like mentioned they don't survive the cold and never heard or saw it beyond that one time but I know I saw it and know it's not impossible people release pets into the wild all the time. According to fish and game that's where all the mountain lions in the north east come from. Cuz it's impossible that they would roam this far Quote
