I just started using Fireline this spring. It's pretty awesome stuff. I use 20# test and it has the diameter of 8# mono. I've been landing more fish with better confidence. How long do you use it between changes? A whole season? I fish about once a week for 3 hours when possible. I use it on 2 spinning combos.

Thanks

I don't have experience with Fireline specifically, but love braid on my spinning reels as well.  I would bet only fishing 3 hours a week you won't have to change the line until the braid starts to run low due to breakoffs and retying.  Could be years and years.  I use a fluoro leader and lose very little braid when I break off and re-tie, only a couple inches.  I'm on my second year with same braid on a reel and it has over 500 hours of fishing on it.  Other than losing color it still works great.

years.

if the backing knot comes through on the cast, time to change.

Thanks. Yeah, I was noticing it losing color. But I just had to break off the other day and it was very strong.

Depends how much you use it and what your using it for, I've been using 30lb braid for flipping lately and cut off a lot of it to retie when it gets frayed.

Braid can last years, I don't worry too much about it changing colors.

When it get low, it's time.

I fished PowerPro 3 years. Then I flipped it on the spool, exposing the new line and fished it 3 more years. Im gonna change it this year.

Yup, that's how I do it too.

Fireline/braid can last for years.  Ive spooled it off and spooled it on the opposite direction just to get the newer looking end.

I will agree with everyone else in that the only time to replace braid is when it gets too short.  I haven't had it wear out yet.

Forever. Fish it a season then reverse it and fish another. Fireline is a fused line. In my experience is doesn't have the shelf life of a quality braid, but it's still close.
