je1946 Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Go to Maine Dept of fisheries web site and they list almost all of their lakes by county, a lot of gd water in that area, Mousam, Great East, Auburn, Moose, are just a few. 1 Quote
Smokinal Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 To be honest with ya, look on a Maine Gazetteer, find water, fish it, catch smallies. repeat. 1 Quote
je1946 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Lake Arrowhead Be very careful if you do Arrowhead, make sure you have a GPS and know how to use it, so many coves and inlets very easy to get lost. I fished it with a friend last yr and did well, but at the end of the day he looked at me and asked"which way is out", I pointed to a direction, he chuckled and went totally in a different direction. 1 Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 You have a lot of options. If you don't want to go too far Arrowhead, Square, and Balch Ponds all have good bass fishing. If you wanted to get a bit more adventurous and drive further western Maine and the Belgrade Lakes offer some of the best fishing on the east coast in my opinion. I would tend to stay away from the bigger waters with your kayak. All the local rivers, ponds and lakes have bass. I am sure that some of the harder to reach places that are only accessible by kayak have some pretty big bass. 1 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted May 10, 2015 Author Super User Posted May 10, 2015 Thanks a million guys, I'll check those places out. John Quote
MainelyBASS Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Estes Lake in Sanford has many fishing opportunities from shore, or a canoe/small boat. Ive been fishing their because my boat motor died, last 2 trips i've caught 8 fish at 3lbs or over. Not amazing, but not horrible either. 1 Quote

Looks like I'll be catching a break from Little League season and will be heading up. I doubt I'll have the yak with me though, I have to load my truck up with tools and material for a small job, but I think I'll give this lake a whirl from shore. Thanks a million Mainely. Quote
andrewbee Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I plan to travel up to Sanford 10/1-10/6. Estes lake, kennebunk pond and even a trip up to Balch pond is on my list. Anyone else have any recommendations? 1 Quote

Unfortunately I was unable to make my way up this year due to work schedules, but we have a bunch great anglers here who have been a tremendous help to me over the years. Grab yourself a chair and enjoy your time here. Quote
