Keiran Beam Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I have a friend who has been telling me about this pond off the 101 in amherst NH. If you not from around the pond is only a couple acres big. Its weedy with some rocks and logs. There are some big bass in it though. I fished it the other day, I can see the fish roaming around. I know that if you see the fish the fish see you. I fished the whole pond tried different things. I wondering if they are just not biting because thy are staging on the bank to breed or if I'm doing something wrong. The bass in there feed off bluegill and yellow perch. Let me know what you guys think! Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted May 7, 2015 Super User Posted May 7, 2015 I have always been curious when I read these threads so I figured I would ask on this one. Are these ponds on public land or just random ponds that you fish? I have always wondered if there are this many public ponds in other states. Quote

It's a nice pond fish a black blue jig with rage craw trailer towards the middle the fish will be also to the right of where you launch. If you look at my gallery the pic of the 4lb bass that my girlfriend is holding up is from that pond. There are some giants in there gotta fish towards the middle of that place off the shore you'll get on them. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted May 8, 2015 Super User Posted May 8, 2015 First, know that we don't catch most of the bass down there. That's a given. In the spring when fish are visible along shorelines this can be a shock and frustration for anglers. It's not just you. You are probably somewhere at the beginning of the spawn. Bass often feed heavily before that actual act. Feed little or not at all during the spawn and then feed heavily again (females) after but are a bit low energy -not so willing to chase. You'll need stealth, knowledge of and ability to read conditions, and be versatile in methods and technique to be catching consistently. Consistently does not mean every time you feel like it. Everyone gets their butts kicked at times. Quote

I'm not too sure.. its right off a highway, im assuming it public because there is a small launch and I haven't seen any private property signs. Quote
