well yesterday my mom made me clean the garage, and seeing the workbench so clean made me want to make a bait :;)

i didn't really feel like making a swimbait, so i just made something easy.

i really like the way this one looks. its a new photo i got, and it really matches the hatch to those tiny bluegills that over-run the shallows of the local lakes.

im hoping to get a nice darting action out of it...will report back later with what kinda action it has.

this bait measures 2 5/8" from nose to tail

the bait:

i weighted it just right so it sits on its nose, should be good for bed fishing in the spring:

it took about 2 hrs start to finish, not including epoxy drying times. thats a heck of a lot easier than a swimbait ;)

Looks great. I'm in the process of making something similar. So far the process hasn't left my head, haha, but similar to yours.

tried it out today.

i was suprised to see that it actualy had some action on just a plain steady retrieve!

on a straight retrieve, this thing had incredible body roll. it would roll 180° on the retrieve. it would go from vertical to having the entire left side facing up, and then the entire right side facing up, and back and forth like that.

not the most realistic swimming action, but kinda neat.

it also has a pretty good darting action when twitched along.

the tail is pretty neat.

i came up with it all on my own, i haven't seen anyone else do a tail like this, so i think its safe to call it my original design.

i'm going to do a tutorial for it soon, i guess you'll just have to wait till then. ;)
