Super User .dsaavedra. Posted October 19, 2008 Super User Posted October 19, 2008 well yesterday my mom made me clean the garage, and seeing the workbench so clean made me want to make a bait : i didn't really feel like making a swimbait, so i just made something easy. i really like the way this one looks. its a new photo i got, and it really matches the hatch to those tiny bluegills that over-run the shallows of the local lakes. im hoping to get a nice darting action out of it...will report back later with what kinda action it has. this bait measures 2 5/8" from nose to tail the bait: i weighted it just right so it sits on its nose, should be good for bed fishing in the spring: Quote
brgbassmaster Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 If it has good acction looks like ill be buying another bait from ya. Quote
ejtaylor822 Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 ......so i just made something easy. Made something easy? Amazing. Sorry, that does not look it easy. But. it does look great! Nice job. 8-) Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted October 19, 2008 Author Super User Posted October 19, 2008 it took about 2 hrs start to finish, not including epoxy drying times. thats a heck of a lot easier than a swimbait Quote
Thad Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Looks great. I'm in the process of making something similar. So far the process hasn't left my head, haha, but similar to yours. Quote
Cory20 Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 I'm curious about the action that lil cutie is going to have and get. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted October 20, 2008 Author Super User Posted October 20, 2008 tried it out today. i was suprised to see that it actualy had some action on just a plain steady retrieve! on a straight retrieve, this thing had incredible body roll. it would roll 180° on the retrieve. it would go from vertical to having the entire left side facing up, and then the entire right side facing up, and back and forth like that. not the most realistic swimming action, but kinda neat. it also has a pretty good darting action when twitched along. dan82205 Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 What did you use for the tail part?? Dan Quote
MichiganFisherman Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Nice bait Dave. Very realistic. Hope it catches ya some fish! Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted October 21, 2008 Author Super User Posted October 21, 2008 the tail is pretty neat. i came up with it all on my own, i haven't seen anyone else do a tail like this, so i think its safe to call it my original design. i'm going to do a tutorial for it soon, i guess you'll just have to wait till then.
